We surveyed 1,370 current Niche users enrolled in an Ivy League school to see what other schools they considered when using Niche to search for a college. The following are the 25 non-Ivy League schools that students were most frequently interested in. All 25 were considered by at least 5 percent of Ivy League Niche users, with Stanford University ranking as the top Ivy League competitor, considered by 24 percent of Ivy League Niche users. Stanford also ranked number one on our list of “Almost Ivies,” which ranks schools most commonly mistaken as “Ivy League.”

    Add some Canadian schools: McGill for life sciences, Queen’s University (Kingston, ON) for business, and the University of Toronto.

    This is so stupid. Stanford, MIT and Caltech are way better than most Ivys in so many ways, that putting out this list is a joke. What’s Ivy league other than a poor football league? What’s common between Harvard and Cornell – there are so may universities that are so much better than most Ivys. Please do us a favor – put out a % of people who go to schools like Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Chicago and Duke that also considered an Ivy (and which Ivy) – that would be more meaningful.
